About the LFRR

The Lupus Family Registry and Repository (LFRR) is

• A long-term research project operating in conjunction with the Lupus Genetics Studies
• Sponsored by the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS, a branch of the National Institutes of Health or NIH)
• The only research resource of multiplex lupus families in the world that scientists in the USA can apply to use in their own lupus research
• A collection of DE-IDENTIFIED materials from families with 2 or more members diagnosed with SLE including:
  • Clinical Data,
  • Serum,
  • Plasma
  • DNA

This information and biologic material is used by 1) Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Lupus Genetics Studies and 2) other LFRR-approved scientists to

• Identify the genes involved in the development of lupus,
• Determine these genes' role(s) in disease activity,
• Study various aspects of the disease (such as autoantibodies),
• Develop better treatment for patients who suffer from this serious illness &
• One day, find a cure or method of disease prevention.
